Compared to espresso, pour over coffee has differences in grind size and flavor. Espresso is served in small portions, usually in an espresso cup. Pour over coffee is served in larger portions, usually in a regular cup or mug. Pour over coffee is also less concentrated and thus not as strong. Espresso has a more bitter and intense flavor than pour over coffee, which often has a softer, rounder taste. This is why many specialty coffee lovers prefer pour over coffee. All in all, there are many differences between espresso and pour over coffee, so it is a matter of personal preference which of the two you like best.

The pour over method

As mentioned above, pour over coffee requires precise settings, measurements and care.

    Which coffee beans to use?

There are a few things to consider when choosing the right coffee for your pour over coffee. One of the most important factors to consider is the coffee bean type. Specialty coffee is recommended because these coffee beans are guaranteed to be of high quality. Thus, you will enjoy the most exciting flavors.

Arabica beans are usually preferred because of their smooth, fruity taste, while Robusta beans tend to be firmer and more bitter. It is also important to choose coffee beans that have been recently roasted, as the flavor of coffee diminishes quickly after roasting.

Furthermore, it is good to choose medium or fine grind, depending on the type of filter you use. Medium grind works well with fabric filters, while fine grind works better with metal filters. If you're not yet sure which grind is best for your situation, it's best to experiment a bit to see what you like the most.

Finally, it's also good to consider whether you want coffee beans that come from a specific region or farm. This can affect the taste of the coffee, so it's a good idea to try different options until you find your favorite.
