A handful of coffee giants determine the price as well as the taste of coffee. This results in three losers: the coffee farmer, the planet and yourself. Bad Coffee, in other words. Wait, let's explain.

THE
PROBLEM.

About 200 billion is earned from coffee worldwide every year, about 8% of which goes to coffee farmers. The price of coffee is determined by the coffee giants who buy their beans for as little money as possible through middlemen. 12.5 million coffee farmers have no control over the price and can barely make ends meet.

BAD
COFFEE.

The coffee giants make no distinction between the coffee beans they get from everywhere. Good and bad beans, ripe and unripe beans: it is all lumped together and then roasted to pieces to disguise the low quality. A shame, because this makes coffee dull, bitter and cardboardy.

THE PLANET
IS SUFFERING.

Coffee farmers barely earn enough to support themselves. There is no money left over to invest in their businesses and to arm themselves against climate change. As a result, harvests fail more often, soils are depleted, forests disappear, the ecosystem is disturbed and animal and plant species become extinct.

POWER TO
THE FARMER.

Wakuli is derived from wakulima: farmers in Swahili. Because it all starts with the coffee farmers. They need to be rewarded for the quality they deliver. So that they can make a good living from their coffee and future-proof their business. This is the only way to make coffee production an attractive profession for the next generation of farmers.

MORE FLAVOUR
FOR YOUR COFFEE.

The coffee farmer is the most important taste maker of your coffee. The roaster must do justice to the great flavors of the coffee beans. After that, it's up to you to turn it into a truly great cup of coffee. Our goal is to eradicate Bad Coffee by making specialty coffee the norm: coffee with its own character, picked, sorted, processed and roasted with care.

OUR 4 PRIORITIES:

Direct Relationships

1

We know who grows our beans and they know who we are. With a long-term relationship, you create stability and strengthen confidence in the future.
