Where this coffee's from

This is the fourth time we are offering coffee from Myanmar since the military junta ousted the democratic government of Aung San Suu Kyi. Many companies have pulled out to avoid reputational damage. As far as we are concerned, this is the "easy way out", leaving farmers in the cold who struggled to make a business out of specialty coffee. By offering this coffee year after year, Wakuli contributes to the prospect of a better future for farmers in Hopong as an alternative to fleeing the country or getting back into poppy cultivation. The coffee again comes from Bant Sawk village but farmers from neighboring villages Nuang Sam Phu, Hti Kham, Long Hay have also contributed.

What you'll taste

This has been one of our more funky coffees for years. Because the coffees are dried with the fruit intact and only the very ripest cherries are allowed to participate, we get a very distinctive "natural" coffee that is among the top favorites of many Wakuli lovers.
