Where this coffee's from

This month, our coffee comes from Idjwi Island in Lake Kivu, a peaceful refuge amidst the ongoing civil war in Eastern Congo. Many of the island’s residents are refugees who have turned to coffee farming to rebuild their lives. Together with our partners Marcelline and Bertin from Rebuild Women’s Hope (RWH), these farmers produce and export exceptional coffee. RWH focuses on empowering female farmers, with women leading much of the cooperative's management.

What you'll taste

The island where this coffee comes from has the perfect climate, altitude, and rich soil, making it ideal for specialty coffee production. The coffee is washed, meaning the beans are removed from their fruit and cleaned after harvesting. The result? A medium-bodied coffee with rich flavors of cherry coke, fresh cranberry, and dark chocolate. Sounds great, right?
